Many people don’t realize that sports on the teenage level are more than just recreation.Tons of young kids out there bet their futures on being the best at their chosen sport. Most will crash and burn yet some will rise above it all and achieve the next level. I have personal experience when it comes to who hard some sports can be. It takes true will to do what some of these kids are going out to participate in every day.
One of the most common ideas is that the kids may be being forced into doing so by over enthusiastic parents. That they would rather give up their childhood to do this than disappoint their parents? I do not belive this to be a common case. I think it may happen at times but in the long run most sports like football, hockey or baseball are just to hard to not love doing them. On top of that most people just can’t truly understand what the teen athlete feels like when it comes to his parents. The easiest way to sum it up however would be , ” whats really so wrong with wanting to make your parents proud of you”. All in all I truly belive that athletes to be called athletes have really already made this decision and we need to respect their motives, no matter the age of the person.
