The spot for the 2010 FIA World Cup is south Africa, a country in abject poverty were 3% of the population owns 70% of the resources. Is this really the kinda of thing that such  a country needs to be hosting when most of their citizens are still drinking dirty water? Or is this exactly what this country needs to bring up economical trade via the assured tourism that goes hand in hand with the world cup? So far South African government has spent over $6 billion on the stadiums that the matches will take place. This leads us to belive that if they the “3%” has the money to support such a thing should they not have enough to reconstruct Sickness riddled lives of the other 97%( Yes 97%, They don’t have a Middle Class).

How then do we get these corrupt ones to focus on the problems of their country? This is easier to say in words than actually put into practice. People don’t stay “bad” (at lest not including intentions) for very long if they realize that the whole world hates them. We need to shine  rather large light on just what all this money is being used for vs How the majority lives. Even if they don’t change, their actions sure will.We need to band together and show just what is going on. The world cup may bring in money , but that money is completely useless when falling into the wallets of those who have already proven that they will not do anything.

Many people don’t realize that sports on the teenage level are more than just recreation.Tons of young kids out there bet their futures on being the best at their chosen sport. Most will crash and burn yet some will rise above it all and achieve the next level. I have personal experience when it comes to who hard some sports can be. It takes true will to do what some of these kids are going out to participate in every day.

One of the most common ideas is that the kids may be being forced into doing so by over enthusiastic parents. That they would rather give up their childhood to do this than disappoint their parents? I do not belive this to be a common case. I think it may happen at times but in the long run most sports like football, hockey or baseball are just to hard to not love doing them. On top of that most people just can’t truly understand what the teen athlete feels like when it comes to his parents. The easiest way to sum it up however would be , ” whats really so wrong with wanting to make your parents proud of you”. All in all I truly belive that athletes to be called athletes have really already made this decision and we need to respect their motives, no matter the age of the person.

For over 30 years now scientists have been asking just what killed the dinosaurs. Today there are about two relevant theories left. One, is that a giant meteor hit the Yucatán peninsula. This would have caused a giant cloud of ash and dust to block the sun lowering temperatures. The lowered temperatures would have wiped out much life on earth.

The other theory is that volcanic activity in India cause the weather change. while a lest credited theory it still has some merit behind it. I am a believer of the astroided. It to me seems more logical that the debris raised caused the temperature drop. the asteroid is thought to have been 9-miles wide and is estimated going 20 times faster than a bullet. The estimated time it hit is some 65 million years ago. Wile it is each persons individual chose whether to belive in the asteroid or even dinosaurs for that matter I hope you will acknowledge , respect, even agree with my chose

Ever sence the recent killing of an orca trainer this issue has been sparked. The Orca that killed his trainer grasped her pony tail  in his mouth and drug her under. One of the most glaring things about this is that the said orca if fact had killed many more people. Including a homeless person who tried to climb into the tank before it was moved to the area were this happened. This particular Orca is a extreamly unusual case and people need to realise that.

There are about 64 Orcas in captivity at this time. with all the people rasing a ruckus for setting orcas free they have seemed to overlook just what would happen if they did that as well as just why they are in captivity at the time. If said Orcas were released then they would most likely there starve or die from some other comon occernce or need in nature due to forgtten survival instincts that have been litteraly “hand feed” out of them. They are also keept in kaptivity so that we can better study them. I do belive that we shouldn’t keep them in tanks for our amusement however.

Life In Jail For Juvies

For a long time now a debate has been going on as to whether or not juvenile offenders should be charged as adults in court. They should not. No matter how grave the offence, I belive that it’s against our constitution to be charged as an adult in federal court if you are under the age of 18. For all judges that refuse to try minors as adults I salute you. This needs to not happen.

Sadly there are also points were this causes more pain than if they had been tried as an adult. For example if a child is accused a making vulgar comments to say a teacher over the phone then he will serve in juvie till he’s 21. But if he was tried as an adult he would only have 5 months in jail or a fine. I just can’t help but think that this subject is so situational that it’s almost impossible to form a soildopinion. Yet, i will stick with my statement that they shouldn’t be tried as adults. I can only hope others do the same.

On Wednesday Gov. McDonnell apologized for not mentioning slavery in the recent proclamation that made April Confederate history month in Virginia. This irks me for many reasons, one of witch is of course that he didn’t care enough to mention slavery in this proclamation in the beginning. I mean, it’s almost impossible not to have seen this reaction from it so that leads me to believe that he just didn’t care until his head was on the chopping block. Even if he didn’t, to celebrate the Confederacy and not even mention slavery is just plain idiotic.

Another thing that irks me is this whole prclomation in the first place. It does absolutly nothing to furthier Amercica or Virginia. The only thing it does is solidify the steriotype that all people in the south are rasist. Making it harder form the majority that isn’t. I know that every person involved in the proclomation isn’t rasist but still. For example in his apogy and adendment to the proclomaction the Gov. siad this, “The abaomination of slaverey divided our nation, diprived  people of  their God-given analenable rights, and led to the Civil War”. If so then why on earth would you make the proclamation in the first palce, if its such a dark spot on our history, why honor it! This does nothing to help the world in any way shape or form, and that is unexceptable.

Death and displacement, that is all that earthquakes seem to bring. Massive tremor after tremor shock the very foundation of the whole world. In Chile a country literally made to withstand the might of earthquakes is in ruins much like Hati now. Yet, still because of Chile’s anti-earthquake building design they are still better of than Hati. This does nothing but ot shoe how bad of they both are.

Chile suffered a 8.8-magnitude wuake that killed more than 700 people and displaced some 2 million. Hati suffered a 7.0-magnitude quake that killed more than 220,000 people and displaced more than 1 million. Why is this, that the difference in magnitudes is so great yet Hati suffered so much more? It is because as i said before that Chile was built for this and still they lost so much. our hearts go out to all who have lost in these horrible accidents.

Not the Shoes!

Full body scans, and not the medical kind. These have been seen more and more after the failed boming in Yeming. Some say they violet ones privacy. Some say they save lives. What do I say, I say that it’s a thin, thin line to walk when using these things. Say, a 10 year old boy has the same name as someone on the terrorist watch list. Do you real think he could be a terrorist? Of course not! The guards don’t think this ethier but they still have to do their job and submit him to a full body search and scan.

Sad isn’t is, that people must go through this deming ing process. Yet, I ask you again picture this a fake passport shows up on a scanner. The owner of the passport is required to take one of this scans. The scan shows two pockets sewn into his pants to look like a seem. One has a white crystalline tube line it obviously a solid. the inside of the other small cavity is filled each with one chemical. These two  chemical which mixed together would make an explosion the size of  a pack of c4. Both would never show up on a metal scanner. the two chemicals are Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine and hydrogen peroxide. This is why I can’t trully decide what I belive one way or another on this subject. whos to say just how many live that one body sacn might save.

Will there be corn?

A lot of people don’t realise that corn is what makes up a lot of the fat in most of the foods the average American eats. It’s in the buns, the drinks, and meat. For years hundreds of organizations have pushed the idea of healthy eating on us. Yet, I don’t think that can always be helpful, but enough of that for now. Many people also don’t realise that all natural  things will sometimes be bad for you. The corn syrup in soda is an extreme example of this. Even animals are fead the corn we can’t eat.

Now, I also think that some organisations going on and on about how 2/3 of America is obese or overweight can have a negative effect. There are a lot of ignorant people who would take it as everyone with a weight problem is obese. I, am 1/3 of the way into the overweight chart and I’ve been called obese more times than i can count. At lest half of these have been after some form of class in which this topic was gone over. I belive that America has a problem. But, I don’t think anything should be done if it comes at the price of prejudice and stereotypes of overweight people.

Afganastan: Drive to Learn

Recently, a man who has dedicated his life to the less fortunate, Greg Mortenson. Made a suprising, saddening, and awe inspiring discovery. When driving allong a road near Simdara, a village in Afganastan, he saw about 25 children in a public tolilet being taught! Upon asking them what they were doing, he was shpwn an entire system of raged huts with boards and childern hulddleld under them. Even an upper school bulilding! A small shack for fourth- sixth graders!

To me this shows the dedication of Afganastan to learn. Even in the mist of all the turmoil going on in their country, to find this is nothing short of amazing. Mr. Mortenson immeddaty set up a school system in a nerby valley. It just goes to show how people in america and what not will whine and mope about teats and homework. When these people are doing such things to get an education. It trully reminded me of what I have. Let us all be thankful for it.
